Provision of medical institutions in district centers and settlements that receive migrants with the necessary drugs and equipment

Date of the event
July 2022 - July 2023

Location
Ukraine

Brief description

Today, a large number of IDPs are registered in Ukraine and it is increasing every day (from abroad, in April, 870 thousand citizens returned to Ukraine, which is about 30 thousand per day, the flow is constantly increasing), most citizens also need temporary housing, as they have been damaged or destroyed. IDPs are conventionally divided into those who have found refuge in regional centers and those who have found refuge in district centers, villages and settlements....Read MoreCommunities in such settlements, local authorities and permanent residents are doing their best to provide adequate living conditions for displaced persons in temporary shelters, but sometimes this is not enough. There are issues and problems that cannot be resolved in the community and need more attention. Such problems include: logistics of humanitarian aid from regional centers; providing care to patients (forced relocation coincided with the exacerbation of seasonal diseases) and people with chronic diseases that require constant monitoring of the disease; providing medical institutions with the necessary amount of medical goods and equipment to provide the necessary assistance to the needy.
In our opinion, these problems can be solved through the development of the existing health care system. There are medical and obstetric points, outpatient clinics, and polyclinics in district centers and settlements. Such medical facilities need to be equipped with the necessary medicines and equipment to provide assistance to temporarily displaced persons and residents. In case of increased aggression by the aggressor in areas adjacent to active hostilities (Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Luhansk, Donetsk, Mykolaiv and other regions) to create a reserve necessary to provide assistance to civilians (wounds, chemical damage). provide not only equipment and medical supplies, but also general practitioners. This can be achieved through the employment of doctors who have temporarily left cities and towns with active hostilities. At the same time, the problem of employment of such doctors will be solved, as well as the provision of medical care to temporarily displaced persons, as well as local residents. Some counseling, such as psychological assistance to migrants from the war zone, can be provided online by specialists from both Ukraine and Europe.
It should be noted that it is considered appropriate to use existing medical and obstetric centers, clinics, clinics, as centers for delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid in rural areas, centers to systematize the needs of migrants in medicine, food, basic necessities and bring these systemic problems to those who can help (including the volunteer community and organizations).

The task of the project:
1. Provide medical facilities with goods and equipment to provide medical care to the needy and create a reserve of drugs in case of hostilities on the territory (portable ultrasound scanners, ECG, X-ray equipment with low-dose radiation; carrying immobilization equipment; medication with antidotes in case of chemical attacks);
2. Provide clinics, clinics, medical and obstetric points with the necessary equipment to provide and receive online consultations (computers, tablets, laptops, Internet equipment);
3. Install and adjust the equipment and medical equipment provided by this project;
4. Conduct online trainings on working on new medical equipment for doctors and paramedics;
5. Create a base for the reception and distribution of humanitarian aid for IDPs on the territory of such medical institutions;
6. Create and provide jobs for doctors who are also IDPs.
The target audience
- Polyclinics, outpatient clinics, medical and obstetric points in district centers and villages;
- Internally displaced persons.
