Despite hostilities in the country, health care facilities receive uninterrupted funding, and domestic doctors continue to work, saving the lives of Ukrainians and providing patients with the necessary medical care, including high-tech.

For example, doctors at the First Territorial Medical Association of Lviv performed five organ transplants from posthumous donors, transplanting a heart and four kidneys. Two kidneys were transplanted to the children evacuated from the capital.

15-year-old Sasha and 12-year-old Yurko lived in Okhmatdyt. With the start of hostilities, children were evacuated to Lviv. There, on March 12, a team of specialists from the First Medical Association of Lviv performed kidney transplant operations. The donor for the children was a 29-year-old man who died of a stroke. In addition to kidneys, doctors transplanted a heart to a 40-year-old man from Chernivtsi.

A few days earlier, on March 7, doctors in Lviv performed two more kidney transplants. The organs were received by a 19-year-old girl from Ivano-Frankivsk and a 37-year-old woman from Ternopil. Both had renal failure and were also on hemodialysis. The donor for them was a 40-year-old man who died at the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Hospital due to a stroke.

Transplant operations are free for patients and are funded by the state.
