The time has come when we are all adapting to new realities, and doctors, in turn, are adapting to the complex injuries caused by hostilities, which are unusual for civilian medicine. For example, a 34-year-old man was brought to one of the Lviv hospitals, where a shell exploded. For the most effective and prompt care, doctors used a unique augmented reality device for our country.
“It can see up to 5 times. He can control our hands, it can say that we have to show it better, more and most importantly what can tell us which tactics to choose or how to do. What accuracy to use “
– explains Andriy Bazylevych, Professor of the Danylo Halytsky National Medical University of Lviv.
A few days ago, this device was handed over to Professor Andriy Bazylevych at the border by representatives of a manufacturer from Munich, and our doctors have already started putting it into operation.
“A virtual reality helmet that helps to transmit images over the Internet over long distances and with its help helps us in the treatment of wounds in cases of doubt or difficult to treat. And we can consult with colleagues both in Ukraine and abroad. It’s not just my eyes, it’s the eyes of the specialist who examines the wound. “
– says Dmytro Romanchak, a surgeon at the 1st Territorial Medical Association in Lviv.
Also, this device helps not only in operations but also in patient consultations. Thus, doctors from other countries are joining this technology, who could see the condition of the wounded man, who was hospitalized with very serious injuries.
“The patient is 33 years old. 7 days of treatment in our department. He was admitted with a severe mine injury and severe eye contusion. With shrapnel injuries to arms and legs
– explains Lesya Peleshchak, anesthesiologist of the 1st Territorial Medical Association of Lviv
At this moment, the patient has already undergone 2 surgeries and still has long bandages and a period of rehabilitation ahead.
“The patient was severe. Now it has a positive dynamics. He is conscious, adequate, assimilates food. Geodynamic parameters have been stabilized and its condition is close to moderate. “
– remarks Lesia Peleshchak.
This device is already used to treat other patients. By the way, there are only 4 such devices in the whole territory of Ukraine. During the operation, the doctor has his hands free and in real time can involve a colleague from anywhere in the world.
“Of course, this is an expensive technology now, but in the future, even a paramedic can show the patient the wound and hear how to close it in the early period. Helping this patient is a unique thing and we thank our partners, partners from the real viar company that did it. ”
– adds Andriy Bazylevych, Professor of Danylo Halytsky National Medical University of Lviv.
The augmented reality device is another step in the development of our telemedicine. This device expands the possibilities of treatment, which is very important for Ukraine in difficult times.
