Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, many Ukrainians have had to flee their homes to escape the occupiers.

Many Ukrainians, including those living in the east, were forced to flee their homes and seek refuge elsewhere, with some moving to the Petrykivka community in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
More than 2,000 IDPs have already been settled there. In fact, every 10th inhabitant of the village is now a refugee from the war. Moreover, these people are already being called future Petrikovites. In particular, today it has become very crowded in the village of Kozatska Sich. However, instead of the usual tourists – now immigrants.

On the farm, mostly clay houses with thatched roofs. Before the war, these were museum houses, and now they serve as a refuge. More than 30 people have lived here since March. Among them is Tatiana, with two children, the youngest – only five months. Under the shelling, they fled from Volnovakha, which is now completely destroyed.

We were going, literally, nowhere, no matter where we spend the night, if only not to come under fire. This is a house, she is 160 years old according to the documents, but she stood long before the documents. Under a thatched roof. I never thought we would live like that, but it's much better than in the basement.

Immigrants from different cities now live here as one family. They even eat from the same pot.
Big borsch for 50 people, we cook a big cauldron, or we prepare dairy, and our housewives bring us free milk.

As one family live in the house of Mrs. Margarita. Her husband is now at the front, and she has her own volunteer front. When the first refugees began to arrive in the community, she immediately took eight people from Volnovakha and a dog.

At first I thought how to mark. Thank you for having beach chairs. So I slept here on a deck chair. The children said that we were fine in the cellar, just give us a heater.
In total, the Petrykivka community received more than 2,200 IDPs. Most live in the locals. Someone in public utilities. The English class has become an apartment and office for doctors from Donetsk region.
We are housed here in classrooms, We live and work - all together.

A doctor from Slovyansk was even able to get a job. She is a radiologist, and the local hospital needed such a specialist. She came here with her one and a half year old son.
I immediately got a job here, the team is very good, I feel at home.

In the community, virtually every 10th resident is an immigrant. It is not easy to keep everyone, the head of the community admits. However, they found a way out.
From the first days, when the volunteer movement was not yet established, everyone decided that employees of budgetary institutions - all donate to the charity fund one-day salary.

With these funds they buy products and other necessary things. And evacuated enterprises began to be involved for employment. Land plots are also being prepared for housing construction. Because they understand that most people will stay here. They simply have nowhere to go back.
