The European Commission has approved the Imvanex monkeypox vaccine for use. Vaccination with it will be done in the EU and some other European countries.
It is noted that the vaccine from the Danish pharmaceutical company Bavarian Nordic has previously been approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and other authorities in the EU.
The disease is characterized by a rash that can look like pimples or blisters. Ulcers usually appear first on the face, then on other parts of the body. That is why we consider it necessary to take measures to combat this disease. For this purpose, more than 130,000 doses of vaccines have already been purchased, another 160,000 are planned
It should be noted that vaccinations against monkeypox have already begun in The Hague and Amsterdam this week. In the near future, more than 30,000 people will receive the vaccine there. All of them are either in the risk group or are in direct contact with the sick. Each of them will receive two injections at least four weeks apart.
It will be recalled that the World Health Organization recently declared an emergency due to the spread of monkey pox.
