The first case of bubonic plague was detected in the Ningxia-Huei Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China.
According to the local Health Committee, the disease was diagnosed in a 45-year-old local resident. It is known that he recently visited the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The man's first symptoms appeared on July 12, the next day he went to the hospital. In a week, on July 19, the diagnosis was confirmed by doctors. It is believed that the man brought the bubonic plague to China from abroad
In addition, it is possible that the patient managed to visit crowded places more than once. That is why the fourth level of response to the epidemiological threat was introduced in the region.
It should be noted that the plague is a serious infectious disease characterized by fever, intoxication, damage to the lungs, lymphatic system with the formation of buboes, frequent septic course and high mortality. Since the beginning of observations, this disease has killed more than 200,000,000 people worldwide. According to the WHO, 2,500 people suffer from the plague every year. Most often, they live in or visit China, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Vietnam, Congo, Madagascar and Peru.
